Teammates :
rock solid team spirit

Whatever their job, wherever they work, our teammates are part of the same team.

The very essence of what we care about: our teammates! This can be seen by how we manage people, which is very specific to our company. Diversity, equality between women and men, and social integration are major issues within our teams. For us, diversity and a wealth of talent inspire innovation and performance.

Our 5 management pillars

1) LIVE YOUR PASSION, EVERY DAY
We all have the same passion: sport. Whether we are a beginner or an advanced player, sport sets the tempo of our days. We are on the move. We play. There is no time to rest!

2) A PLACE FOR EVERYONE

What is really important to us: a passion for sport, others and taking action. We're interested in personalities, not just qualifications. Desire, commitment, being generous and being genuine make all the difference.

3) TRUST FIRST AND FOREMOST!

Everyone can make an impact within the company. Whatever your job, whatever your position on the ground. Each voice counts! Assignments evolve at the pace of your ambitions and skills. Each teammate is surrounded and supported with their everyday challenges. We strongly believe in team spirit and mutual support!

4) THE RIGHT TO BE BOLD AND GET IT WRONG

We like initiative. We like to spotlight it. And yes, every day there is a new start line. A new opportunity to change the rules of the game. So, we have the right to try, to sometimes get it wrong, and to try again. With one rule that never changes: have fun throughout the game.

5) PLAY AN ACTIVE ROLE IN YOUR PROJECT
We think in terms of initiatives, personalisation and growth. We believe everyone is unique. Each teammate can change its job or assignment, without changing company. And find the job that truly suits them 100%. Everyone can invent their project, their assignment, by always making sport even more accessible to everyone.

Profit sharing!

As you may know: DECATHLON is not listed on the stock exchange. The group is owned by a family-based shareholder scheme made up of 3 "colleges": The family of the ex-founding chairman Michel Leclercq, the Mulliez family and the employees.

What does being a shareholder mean ?
Being a shareholder, simply means owning shares, in other words, a part of the company . The term "college" refers to a group of shareholders. And the family-based stock ownership regroups the shareholders of the same family. There you go, you know everything now 😉

A quick history of the employee stock ownership plan at DECATHLON

To start off with the stock ownership plan was intended for ten or so French DECATHLON managers. Then it expanded, developed and became accessible to all teammates in France. And later on, all over the world.

1987: Michel Leclercq invited teammates to become partners, by becoming shareholders. It's an opportunity for them to invest in their company, to take part in a shared adventure. And to better understand the company's business and financial operation, making them feel more involved, and responsible, while also putting aside some capital.

2001: the employee stock ownership plan is available worldwide. Today, 40 countries are DECATHLON shareholders with close to 60,000 teammates shareholders.

Happy teammates!

Because teammates' well-being is important to us, we launched a quarterly survey in 2017.
We put one question to them: “Are you happy to come into work every day?”.

The results ?

91% of teammates are happy to come to work (55% of “Yes, completely” and 36% of “Yes” in total in 2022 vs 53% of “Yes, completely” and 38% of “Yes” in total in 2021).
